Elder's Books

The Elder & Shepard Years: 1898-1903

Paul Elder and Morgan Shepard were in partnership from 1898-1903, and during that time they published about forty books. The highlights include several illustrated in the Art Nouveau style, such as "A Balloon Ascension at Midnight" and "Into the Light", and perhaps their best effort, Katherine Hooker's well-written travel book "Wayfarers in Italy".

A number of the books were illustrated and/or written by Shepard, and many were targeted for children. Elder continued to publish children's literature throughout his career.
